A practical starting example

Sample a representative colour

A product photo includes lighting and compression variation, so nearby pixels can differ. Sample several nearby points in a flat region and compare their values before using one as a design colour. A pixel sample is not a calibrated measurement of a physical product.

Use this as a small trial before applying the operation to your real input. A sample illustrates the workflow; it does not promise a specific result for every source file or device.

How to use Image Color Picker

  1. Prepare a copy of the input. Supported inputs: JPG, PNG, WebP.
  2. Choose the operation and review the controls below before running the sample.
  3. Run the tool, then inspect the new output before using it.

Prepare the input

Use the controls described in the application. Supported inputs: JPG, PNG, WebP.

Supported input and output scope: JPG, PNG, WebP

Review the available controls

Choose a palette count or click the preview to sample a displayed pixel. Copy the chosen hex colour or download the generated CSS palette. The preview can be scaled, so sampling is a design aid rather than an exact full-resolution inspection.

How to decide whether the result is useful

Use the preview to pick a pixel. Palette colors are frequent sampled colors, not an accessibility or print-color certification.

  • Compare the output with the unchanged source.
  • Check the destination requirement before copying, downloading or uploading it.
  • Open the downloaded file in the receiving application and check its actual type, size and contents.
  • Use a second representative sample if the first does not cover the difficult part of your input.

Limitations and troubleshooting

The displayed pixel uses the decoded browser image. Color profiles and displays can affect appearance. Transparent pixels are excluded from the palette.

If the output does not match your intention

Return to the original copy, review the selected input and controls, and repeat with a smaller sample. If the embedded view is unavailable, use the direct tool link at the top of this page. Browser support and device memory can affect file-based workflows.

Questions about this tool

What should I check first?

Use the preview to pick a pixel. Palette colors are frequent sampled colors, not an accessibility or print-color certification.

Can I use the tool from this guide?

The main button opens the working tool on its Tabaix subdomain. An optional embedded view may be added to this guide; the direct link remains available for larger screens, downloads or browser compatibility.

What should I keep before changing the input?

Keep an unchanged source and record any controls you chose. That gives you a comparison point and lets you repeat the task without replacing your original.
